Best albums of 2006

  • A few favorites of mine:

    • Lindstrøm, It's A Feedelity Affair
    • The Black Keys, Magic Potion
    • Beck, The Information
    • Band of Horses, Everything All The Time
    • J Dilla, Donuts

I'm probably forgetting a ton of hip-hop, so what else good came out ten years ago?

  • administrators

    hell hath no fury
    futuresex/lovesounds
    food & liqour
    in my mind
    the inspiration

  • Mastodon - Blood Mountain
The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
    J Dilla - Donuts
    Grizzly Bear - Yellow House
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade (lol)

  • Great year! I graduated high school lol

I remember a lot of lil wayne, brand new, and taking back sunday...personal favorites of mine were definitely clipse, flaming lips, belle & sebastion, dilla, thursday,...the byrdgang mixtape went the hardest tho. R.i.p. stack bundles!

  • Does anybody remember the band Saturday Looks Good To Me?

  • Ooooh great thread. Definitely had to Wiki what came out in 2006 because my memory is garbage/I have no sense of time.

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
    Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere
The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth (obviously by no means their best album, but I was really excited for this)
Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
    JT - FutureLove/SexSounds
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

I remember Thom Yorke's The Eraser was a big deal, but I never really got that into it. I am also going to lose all credibility for this but "Fergalicious" was my jam.

  • King by T.I.

    1. Jay Reatard - Blood Visions [punk]
    2. Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury [hip hop]
    3. Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor [hip hop]
    4. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not [rock]
    5. Beach House - Beach House [dream pop]

Not really one of my favorite years in music, but it marked the debut or defining albums from some outstanding bands/artists like Jay Reatard (solo), Lupe Fiasco, Arctic Monkeys, Beach House, The Thermals, and Grizzly Bear.

  • @channel_purple I love you for including Jay Reatard in this. A million up votes for you.

  • Omg how did i forget blood visions. I am not worthy.

  • After a little research...

    Burial - Burial
    Dilla - Donuts
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
    Cat Power - The Greatest
Darondo - Let My People Go
Kid Koala - Your Mom's Favorite DJ
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
